Le1f Serves Black Magic at Warm Up 2012

This past Saturday, July 21, 2012, MoMA PS1 held its weekly summer event, Warm Up. Warm Up is a 15 year tradition that features the hottest in experimental live music, sound, performance, and DJs. “Wut” superstar, Le1f, performed as well as JDH and Dave P, MikeQ, Sepalcure, and Matthew Dear.

After waiting in a horrendous line for over one hour and some change – thank goodness for being able to hear MikeQ’s set while waiting -, I finally weaseled my way to the front of the stage just before Le1f went dauntlessly into the phenomenal “&Gomorrah”. “Bubbles”, “Mind Body”, and “Gag” (featuring Le1f’s pal Don Jones) were amongst the memorable tracks of the evening. Well, of course “Wut” had the crowd going off. And of course, I caught the booty pop infection and dropped it low real quick!

Le1f Slays Your Entire Fucking Life with the “Wut” Video!

Ok, so, I just accidentally read the YouTube comments for NYC rapper, Le1f’s, debut video, “Wut”.  My mood instantly went from “excited-to-share-homie’s-new-video-on-blog” to straight up ANGER in a matter of three comments. I try to avoid reading social media comments like I avoid catching syphilis; both diseases have negative effects on your brain and body.

Onto what we came here for. Le1f delivers the goods via overnight shipping, honey, in the “Wut” video! Vivacious and full of fire, the balance of simplicity and character makes the video absolutely indefectible. Parts of the video that I find myself watching over and over are Le1f’s a$$ a$$ a$$ shaking and that goddamn muscled down boy serving Pikachu realness! Dayum!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Graces the Cover of GQ’s Fall Fashion Issue Sexy McSexy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks distinguishingly handsome on the cover of GQ’s Fall Fashion Issue. I’m not going to lie, I was hoping to see him all diesel and shit but he’s back to his slim and slender Hesher frame. I’m drooling, regardless. For their yearly fashion issue, GQ travels across the pond to London. Designers across-the-board are channeling the English gentleman this autumn with focus on well tailored three-piece suits. Since my pockets certainly can’t afford Dolce & Gabbana at the moment, I am praying H&M will have similar designs that I can at least wear and wash twice; you never know with them… Catch JGL in the upcoming film, The Dark Knight Rises.

Rapper Remy Ma is Alive and Well! For the past couple of years there has been a presence missing in the hip-hop game.  A rousing and mischievous figure that can hands down out rhyme any female or male; Remy Ma.  Yeah yeah yeah, I’m most certainly a STAN. Yesterday, some bored as fuck 13 year-old - lets be real here – decided it would be cute to start a web rumor announcing Remy Ma had passed away.  Like a real bitch would, orange jump suit and all,  The BX Savior phoned in with DJ Funkmaster Flex to let the streets know that blood was still flowing through her veins.  Rem also blessed us with even better news; she’ll be back to the booth in 22 months! Let the countdown begin. Who would you like to see Rem collaborate with once she’s back to business?

Stylin’ & Wildin’: Jean Cardi Cacique

Living out the tagline, “Express yourself”, to the fullest is photographer and model, Jean Cardi Cacique. With a self-described look that cohesively blends his Haitian heritage along with casual Scandinavian style, Jean Cardi is a fashion force to be reckoned with.

Cacique has an infinite passion for color and rightfully so because he is super sharp and dazzling in each colorful look we’ve seen him wear. But, it was a recent post of his, “Kom tættere på. come closer”, that made our jaws drop. With a color scheme that is certainly a classic favorite of ours - black, grey, and ivory – Jean Cardi simply serves and slays! The accessories chosen for this look are dead-on. The silver lining of Jean’s Ray Bans complimenting the silver link chain, which fits perfectly around the neck of the grey button down is excellent!

Regal Zone quickly chatted with Jean Cardi about his personal style.

Regal Zone: What is your favorite/signature color scheme?

Jean Cardi: I love the contrast between colors, love to see how different colors work together. One of my fav combination is a strong red color or a lighter blue mixed with white. 

RZ: What is your favorite clothing brand?

JC: That’s got to be the Danish upcoming brand ‘Soulland’ founded in 2002. It’s only a menswear brand by the way.

I mix this classic brand with for instance Kenzo, Diesel or Burberry which gives my looks an unique edge I will say

RZ: What is the biggest “stayer” this year in your personal collection?

JC: I have my cool pair of blue Burberry Trousers that cost about a $1000. Yeah! I’m crazy but they were certainly my best investments this year. They are like made for me I will say.

Many of my (Lookbook) friends and fans told me I look very smart and creative wearing them. That’s not a bad thing! (the trousers: BURBERRY PRORSUM: LINEN AND COTTON IKAT TROUSERS)
